Mary Magdalene: A Drama Exploring Love (Lenten Quartet 2)

‘Mary Magdalene’ is a play focusing on the divine virtue of love in Jesus Christ. The play can be easily staged or read in public (not to mention in private). Its five acts can be presented in successive church services, most aptly in the mid-week services following Ash Wednesday. The play has 12 roles (nine male, two female, one either). The primary roles are for Mary Magdalene, an olive merchant (Isachar), Isachar’s wife (Shiphrah), and a centurion (Gaius). ‘Mary Magdalene’ is one of four plays in ‘Lenten Quartet 2’, which explores the divine or Christian virtues: faith, hope, and love in Jesus Christ. The other three plays in ‘Lenten Quartet 2’ are ‘Saul’ (exploring the divine virtues in the context of a divine kingdom), ‘Luke’ (exploring the virtue of faith), and ‘Gamaliel’ (exploring the virtue of hope).
